Wish you had a lovely sunday! Mine was peaceful, and I'm ready to begin a new week! I'm totally settled into my apartment now, (I can begin to think about decorating it! Yay!), and I finally took the time to take some pictures. I still have an Ishbel Shawl and a Color Affection to shoot, but the CA is in the bad corner for the moment: there's something wrong about it, or I haven't understood how to wear it.
I wanted to knit another pair of this pattern to see how these socks would look like in varigated yarn and also to check if there was any error in the pattern. I'm glad I did because I found some issues. The pattern has been corrected since then, but be sure you have read the pattern's page on Ravelry, if you wish to knit these socks. So sorry about that.
Pattern: You can download "By the Seine River" here if you wish. Available in english and in french, thanks to Elise who did a wonderful job.
Yarn: Cascade Yarns, Heritage Painted. (9801) 89 grams.
Needles: Addi Turbo Circular, 2.5mm, 80cm.
About the Yarn: At first, I was disapointed with the color, but actually once knitted, the different colors blend very well and I love it! Chili, Mustard, Wasabi....Spicy Socks! The yarn itself is lovely to knit with a great stitch definition.
Mods: As usual, I did a longer heel flap to fit my high instep. I also lenghtened the leg (almost 8") because I wanted higher socks.
I'm not going to write the usual "About the Pattern" review because, well, you can understand why! ;) Anyway, I'm very happy to have a new pair of socks, and I'm very grateful to all the knitters who are knitting my pattern. :)

RépondreSupprimerIt's a beautiful pattern, I'm not surprised it's popular! In fact I've queued it, but don't hold your breath waiting for me to produce a sock as, as you know, I rarely knit them. Yours look gloriously autumnal!

RépondreSupprimerJ'ai découvert votre blog avec émerveillement il y a quelques mois et ça y est, je me suis lancée dans ma première paire de chaussette: les "By the Seine River"; malheureusement, étant inexpérimentée, je bloque à l'extension du talon: je ne comprends pas, quand au premier rang, on glisse une maille et on tricote jusqu'à ce qu'il reste 15 mailles et on commence à faire les allers et retours, on ne travaille plus avec les 32 mailles de l'aiguille?? C'est du chinois pour moi, merci de bien vouloir m'aider car je voudrais les offrir bientôt et je trouverais dommage de m'arrêter en si bon chemin alors que je les trouve magnifiques. (en attendant, j'ai commencé à monter une deuxième paire avec un autre fil!)

SupprimerCette phase du talon s'appelle aussi "Heel turn" ou tourner le talon. Il repose sur le principe des rangs raccourcis, aussi, on ne tricote que quelques mailles pour progressivement "gagner" une maille de chaque côté jusqu'à ce que toutes les mailles du heel flap soient travaillées.
Si je peux vous donner un conseil, c'est de ne pas chercher à comprendre coûte que coûte avant de tricoter, mais plutôt de suivre les instructions telles quelles, je vous promets que ça va marcher comme prévu et vous allez comprendre en le faisant :)
