Hello! Thank you so much for your compliments and encouragements on my last shawl. I will probably gift it and make another one later. Today, let's talk about crochet!
I love gray. All shades of gray. Gray mixed with white, with pink, with anis green, with blue, with black, gray mixed with itself, I love to wear it and I love it in a house. I wanted a simple set of potholders for my kitchen. As for weeks I wasn't able to knit anything, this quick little crocheted project was perfect for instant gratification.

Pattern: Summertime Cocktail Coasters by Kirsten Kapur.
Yarn: Phildar Phil Coton 3, Minerai (slate) & Mercure (beige). A little less than one ball each.
Crochet Hook: Clover Soft Touch, 2.75mm & 3.25mm. If you never tried these before, you should really!
Soft Touch are at crochets what are Addis to knitting needles.
About the Yarn: I usually don't like Phildar yarns (too much acrylic and not worth the price in my opinion) but I actually like this cotton very much. It's thick, shiny, and holds up very well even if machine washed.
About the Pattern: Very clear and easy to follow. I enjoyed it a lot. A quick and fun little project, 100% satisfaction guaranteed!
Mods: Increased until 8 stitches between each increases. With larger hook, joined two flat circles with single crochet.
Potholder 1: Plain color: A. Stripes: A & B. Joined with B
Potholder 2: Plain color: B. Stripes: B & A. Joined with A
Oh, and I found an awesome trick on this fabulous site to avoid the ugly gap between the color changes. I had to share it with you dear crocheters, and dear crocheting knitters ; )
I think my knitting mojo is coming back slowly. I began a Henslowe shawl. So far, so good. Guess the color? :p

Being a big fan of gray it is no wonder I am in love with these potholders! These are beautiful. I would hate to use them. Hmmm...could the color of the Henslowe be gray?
RépondreSupprimerAnother big grey fan here. And these are fabulous!
RépondreSupprimerMercerised cotton like this is about the only cotton yarn I'll consider, Lovely!
I do love grey myself. Those are quite modern looking in grey, rather than old fashioned as I usually think of crocheted pot holders . (but old fashioned in a good way) I am currently crocheting an endless blanket, but at least it does have lots of grey!
RépondreSupprimerI prefer to crochet than knit a blanket! It seems faster don't you think? What a pity you don't have a personal blog, I'd love to see your finished blanket.
