It's Here!

Dear Readers,

How are you? Thank you so much for the support and good advices since my last post. I totally "recovered" now. Actually, things are going pretty well, as I have received my yarn today! Yay! I was away for 2 days, and when I came back, these beauties were waiting for me.
They are so pretty I might not be able to knit them for a while (do you have this problem too?) but at least, I have already planned to knit an Ishbel Shawl from this wonderful coral skein:

Madelinetosh, Tosh Lace, Coral
This gorgeous grey yarn has an incredible sheen and yardage, and I'm still wondering which pattern will be the one:

Fyberspates, Scrumptious Lace, Slate
The next one is slightly disappointing. I thought it would be more pink than red-orange, but I'm still happy to have another sock yarn to knit immediately. I also ordered something else, but this will stay secret as it is a birthday gift for a friend. Shhh! ;)
Cascade, Heritage Paints, 9801
I don't buy varigated yarn often, and I'm still wondering what sock pattern to use with this one. Maybe a pair of Monkey Socks? I'm so in love with Andi's Monkey Socks that I want another pair for myself.
I also bought a crochet hook, so I should be fine until I get home in September. Phew!

I was almost about to forget to mention the wonderful shop where I got my yarn dose: Laine et Tricot is a blessing for any knitter in France: very fast delivery, careful packing, lovely yarns, fair prices, oh, and not to mention the very valuable open in August! ;)

I have some winding to do....
Have a lovely day!

Misery

A Knitter on holiday:
  • has plenty of time to knit! yay!
  • has plenty of time to finish her UFO's! yay!

A Knitter on holiday (at her parent's house in Paris):
  • once her wips finished, has no access to her Stash.
  • has no access to her blocking tools so she can't block and show up her latest FO.
  • has to dig into some leftover yarns, specially left over here because it wasn't interesting enough to bring to her own place.
  • may found some interesting yarn to knit among her leftover yarns but won't have the right needles.
  • may have the right needles but won't have the right yarn.
  • might have both the right needles and the right yarn, but not enough to knit ankle socks for her huge feet.

Of course, as the Knitter is on holiday (and has no yarn to play with), she also has plenty of time (and a very good reason) for compulsive yarn shopping.....
BUT
Every yarn shop in Paris is closed, because we are in August. And in August, almost every single shop in Paris is closed for holiday break.

What's the point of being on holiday if you just can't knit?

ps: To top it all, I just finished my Color Affection and it looks like a rag.
pps: I don't even have my crochet hooks with me :(
ppps: I will probably have to order yarn online, but my favorite online dealer is also on holiday until August 16th :(
(at least 6 days left without knitting)

I feel terrible....

pppps: Do I sound like an addict?

EDIT: Today, sunday, I finally ordered some gorgeous yarn on Laine et Tricot. It should be here by the 17th or 18th...

Juillet/July: Ugly but Easy Socks

Hello!
Thank you for all your encouragements on my previous post. My Color Affection is now growing regularly. I'm completely immersed in a sea of garter stitch, and I love that! That's probably the reason why I haven't post about these socks earlier. I promise they were finished before the begining of August, but I was lazy taking the pictures. :p

So here they are, my July Socks. The "problem" with being on holiday in another place, is that you don't have access to your stash, and I had to content myself with leftovers. I had very little yarn that could match together, and I thought those two would work together, but apparently not. Actually, it's not really a matching problem, the truth is, I'm not very fond of the main color. Oh well, they are still good enough to wear at home and I'm happy to destash a little! Despite this colorway I don't like, Shibui Sock yarn is always amazingly soft and squishy, a pleasure to knit with :)

Pattern: My own recipe.
Yarn: Shibui Socks, (Anime) 37 grams & Sweet Georgia Tough Love Sock (Summer skin) 17grams.
Needles: Addi Turbo Circular, 2.75 mm because I was lazy using my 2.5 mm needles.

Have a lovely day!
